The use of standard roller conveyors including swing gates, switches to deactivate workstations and buttons to confirm completed work steps has significantly increased the efficiency and flexibility of production at Hirschmann Automotive. These adjustments enable employees to work more efficiently and optimize the production process. The system also offers the option of quick and complete changeover and cleaning, which leads to further optimization of operating processes.

Hirschmann Automotive has been a development and production partner for electromechanical assemblies and components for the automotive industry for over 60 years. The products are used worldwide by all well-known automotive brands and also cover all drive types available on the market. The company specializes in customer-specific connectors, cable assemblies, sensor systems, etc. with applications throughout the vehicle.

Hirschmann Automotive GmbH needed new, flexible and cost-effective assembly equipment that could meet the required cycle times and be delivered quickly for the rest of the project. The company relied on a customized assembly line from Robotunits, which includes both a final assembly line and a pre-assembly line. This line enables manual production with a cycle time of 14 seconds and includes workpiece carriers and customer attachments that communicate with the control system. The Robotunits solution includes a powered roller conveyor circuit with buffer spaces in front of each workstation, the option of switching off workstations when they are not occupied and a ready-to-use control system.

We opted for Robotunits due to the rapid availability, simple control and modularity of the system. We were also impressed by the excellent price-performance ratio. The cooperation with Robotunits was pleasant and smooth, from the joint conception of the system through to commissioning. The consistently clean workmanship and the stable solution of the built-in swing gate, which even exceeded our expectations, are particular highlights for us.
